ASP Tips and Tricks

I have been developing n-tier applications using Active Server Pages since Microsoft first introduced the Beta version in 1996.

I truly believe that you can do anything with Active Server Pages and a little Visual Basic. Not once have I found some useful website feature I could not create. That's why I don't bother with .Net until Version 2.0 - though all of what you see here can be ported over directly.

In my time I have written Visual Basic functions to handle just about everything thrown at me. These functions have been called Billions of times and never fail! On these pages you will find the most useful ones, the ones I use time and again, for you to use free in your own applications.

If you need an ASP developer for telecommuting work I'm very reasonable just email Benny

What Scripts are here?

I have written applications that interface databases for e-commerce and photo libraries so you will find financial functions and scripts for displaying images. I have divided scripts into basic groups.

Strings: They say all code boils down to strings and I have loads of scripts that pick apart strings (finding and replacing text etc.). The one I use most often is ExtractString() which gets called from loads of other functions too.

Database: I came from developing MS Access applications on LAN's and Microsoft, in their wisdom, left out a couple of functions that I would have like to have seen in ASP 3. Like DCount(), DLookup(), and NZ(). No matter, I have recreated them (so you don't have to).
