A classic four-chord progression derived from the major scale: I–V–IV–V. Often used as a repetitive vamp or turnaround in major-key blues, rock, and pop. The movement from tonic (I) to dominant (V), subdominant (IV), and back to V creates forward momentum and harmonic balance. Works well for improvisation using the major or mixolydian scales.
