  1. Jimi Meets Miles - Hey Marcus!
Jimi Meets Miles - Hey Marcus!

This is the second track on the Rebirth of the Kool album. As its name suggests, it is a tribute to legendary producer and bassist, Marcus Miller.

  2. Jimi Meets Miles - Spanish Key
Jimi Meets Miles - Spanish Key

Spanish Keyz is the opening track on the Rebirth of the Kool album. It was inspired by Spanish Key, off Bitches Brew, but the only thing it has in common with the original is the classic trumpet ‘head’ that anchors the groove. The other 99% is brand new and highly improvised.

  3. No Hangups!
    No Hangups!

This is another one of my original tracks. I like the muted guitar line that hold it together. It also features my first ever bass guitar solo!

  4. Nightshadows
    Nightshadows

This track is my first (and probably last) surf music track. The twangy Hank Marvin guitar is actually played on synth!

  5. Christmas Song
    Christmas Song

Here's another of my original tracks. I'm hoping this one will get you in the festive mood?

  6. Weathered Report - Benny Sutton
    Weathered Report - Benny Sutton

My tribute to one of my fave jazz bands, Weather Report. Very Joe Zawinul!

  7. Breakfast with Tiffany
    Breakfast with Tiffany

This is a smooth jazz track with some interesting drums on it

  8. Jake - a tribute to Jacob Collier
Jake - a tribute to Jacob Collier

Too soon for a tribute to wunderkind Jacob Collier? I don't think so. This is a modern Jazz funk fusion groove as a tribute to Jacob Collier

  9. Head Hunters
    Head Hunters

This is the first original track that I have posted for a year. I'm back in Jazz Funk territory again with a tribute to Herbie Hancock's Headhunters. For those of you tuned in to obscure musical references it has a bass line reminiscent of the track 'Chameleon' and some ethnic sounds like on the track 'Watermelon man' and no doubt more besides!

  10. Only You
    Only You

An original composition and a collaboration with the talented Vocalatti on vocals. Another popular one on Soundcloud.

  11. Zanzibar
    Zanzibar

This one has an exotic name! Another one written on synth.

  12. Here, There and Everywhere
    Here, There and Everywhere

Absolutely nothing to do with Beatles track of the same name! It's dominated by a vocoder vocal complete with multi harmonies, it's amazing how technology can make even my voice bearable! I hope you like the Stevie Wonder harmonica solo.

  13. F-Bomb
    F-Bomb

A wild piece of jazz rock funk! I went through a very 'out there' phase on guitar. Check out Mwah (another track) if you like this one.

  14. Hoo Yah!
    Hoo Yah!

You can easily spot why this on is called Hoo Yah by the synth theme. Rocks along nicely.

  15. Work It!
    Work It!

A track I wrote for a live set, guaranteed to get your feet tapping. I'm back in Jazz Funk territory again with a tribute to Herbie Hancock's Headhunters.

  16. Tribute to George Duke
    Tribute to George Duke

If you love the groove then George should be one of your go to guys! I love electric piano and been listening to him a lot recently for inspiration, hence the approach to this tribute track. Guitar is my first instrument and I have nowhere near George's keyboard virtuosity so please forgive the rough edges on my 'Georgesque' synth solo; it's an honest attempt at the spirit of probably the greatest technical player of our time.

  17. Absent Friends
    Absent Friends

Another more traditional jazz track from the Grooves album is Absent Friends. I was looking to swing and it seems to have worked. Basically a 12 bar blues structure I like to think it captures the spirit those early jazz groovers - the guys who were funky before James Brown, guys like Horace Silver and Eddie Harris.

  18. Never Here
    Never Here

An original composition inspired by the Ronnie Laws' track 'Always There' - hence the title!. I play all instruments, arrange, produce the track. From the Back To Basics album.

  19. Dad Funk
    Dad Funk

Full Phat Funk for all you groovemeisters! Features AJ (aged 6) for the voiceover with attitude! This is another one of my original tracks. I like the muted guitar line that hold it together. It also features my first ever bass guitar solo!

  20. Out Of Sight
    Out Of Sight

An original composition that boogies along. I play all instruments, arrange, produce the track. From the Back To Basics album.

  21. Brasilia - Benny Sutton
    Brasilia - Benny Sutton

Brasilia is a latin style track featuring AJ Lewis on vocals. Ever since I heard George Duke's 'Brazilian Love Affair' I've wanted to do a Latin track. Here it is!

  22. Hot Gossip
    Hot Gossip

I wrote a nice gospel like theme for this one. Indeed it progresses into a real 'jump up church' groove complete with handclaps. Very Jacob Collier with some Larry Carlton guitar work

  23. Joe's Town
    Joe's Town

A tribute to the late, great keyboard player from The Crusaders, Joe Sample. It's an early effort so needs a remix but the fretless bass still sounds sweet.

  24. Message In a Bottle
    Message In a Bottle

A great name and a great track but absolutely nothing to do with The Police song of the same name!

  25. Fusion Schmoozin'
    Fusion Schmoozin'

Cool Jazz fusion instrumental with a modern take. It's in the style of Herbie Hancock, Jacob Collier, Vulfpeck with some Larry Carlton thrown in!

  26. Byrdland
    Byrdland

Modal structrured Nu Jazz Fusion. This track has a passing similarity with the track Birdland by Weather Report

  27. Who'da Thunk It!
    Who'da Thunk It!

Bluesy, funky instrumental. A collaboration with Jamie Rhind, who did the Miles Davis style horns on the outro

  28. Shaky Ground
    Shaky Ground

A blues/funk track featuring the astounding AJ Lewis on vocals.

  29. After Midnight
    After Midnight

Starts off as a jazz rock track with horns then changes to a sweeter jazz groove. A smooth jazz groove in the style of The Crusaders with a laid back groove.

  30. No Hangups
    No Hangups

A real stormer of a track featuring Alan Corne on drums. I'm back in Jazz Funk territory again with a tribute to Herbie Hancock's Headhunters.
